Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme is a scholarship program by the government of West Bengal. It is the Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme (SVMCM)  and also known as the Bikash Bhaban Scholarship. It is a scheme to provide scholarships at various levels of higher education, including Higher Secondary (Class 11 and 12), undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses. Eligibility Criteria for SVMCM Scholarship

To apply for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme, you need to meet certain eligibility criteria. Let’s know about it-

  • Candidates must be permanent residents of the state of West Bengal. they must have proof of their residency in West Bengal.

  • For Academic qualification, candidates must pursue their academic study in a regular mode.

  • Class 11 and 12 from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education/West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education/Madrasa Education for Higher Secondary level. They must pass with at least 75% marks.

  • Candidates must belong to the Kanyashree K2 category and have obtained at least 60% marks in the WBCHSE.

  • Undergraduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce, Engineering, Medical, etc from a recognised university.

  • Postgraduate level in Science/Arts/Commerce & Technical/Management courses from a recognised university.

  • M.Phil and Doctoral courses candidates also apply for it.

  • The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs per annum.

  • There is no age limit and no ST/SC category reservation.

 

 

 

Required Document for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme

Following are the required documents that candidates need to submit at the time of application or renewal process.

  • A valid domicile certificate to prove their residency in the state of West Bengal. YOu can use an Aadhaar Card/Ration Card/Voter ID Card for a Domicile certificate

  • A valid income certificate issued by the appropriate authority to verify the family’s annual income.

  • Marksheet or certificate of last Board/Council/University/College Examination (both sides) from the West Bengal Government.

  • Bank password for bank account details, including the account number, IFSC code, and bank branch details. It will be used to transfer the scholarship amount directly to the candidate’s bank account.

  • Recent passport-sized photographs in the specified format.

  • A valid copy of the Aadhar card issued by the Government of India.

  • A digital signature in a specified format which is JPG/JPEG format and a size between 20KB-50KB and 10KB-20KB respectively.

  •  A self-declaration form confirming the accuracy and authenticity of the information provided during the scholarship application.

 

 

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme Registration: How to Apply?

If you want to apply for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme, also known as the SVMCM (Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means) Scholarship this year, here is a step-by-step guide to register yourself. As you already know the required documents are listed, so let’s begin

  • Visit the official website of the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme, which is https://svmcm.wbhed.gov.in/. It is hosted by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal.

  • On the homepage, navigate to the right-hand side of the dashboard and click on the “Registration” option.

  • Now, select the appropriate category.

  • Now, click on the Application type, select the Fresh application and click on Proceed button.

  • Now, fill out the registration form like name, date of birth, email address, mobile number, etc.

  • There will be an option for a password. Use a strong password that you can always remember.

  • Now upload the required document in the specified format.

  • Cross-check all details carefully before proceeding to the next.

  • Click on the Register button.

  • Enter the OTP number that you will receive on the registration number.

  • After successful verification of your number, an Applicant ID will be generated for you.

  • Save this Applicant ID for future use. Moreover, download a copy of the registration slip to use later.

  • Visit the official website of the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme, which is https://svmcm.wbhed.gov.in/.

  • Click on “Applicant Login” available on the right-hand corner of the dashboard.

  • Enter your Applicant ID and password(you entered during registration).

  • Clear the security code for human verification and proceed to the login button.

  • After successful login, you will see a dashboard of your account.

  • On the dashboard, you can change or edit your profile or application.

  • If you want to change something, you can update it here.

 

 

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Renewal Process

For renewal of the Swami Vivekananda scholarship, applicants have to submit the application form online with the existing application ID within one month from the date of admission to the next higher class.

They need to submit the good academic performance marksheet of the last higher class. It is 60% marks for Higher Secondary Level to Undergraduate Level combining all semesters. For the Postgraduate Level, 50% marks for all semesters.

Renewal rules under the Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) are-

  • 1st Renewal: Submission of SEM 1 and SEM 2 mark sheet required

  •  2nd Renewal: Submission of SEM 3 and SEM 4 mark sheet required

Under VMCM Scholarship Scheme 2023 for MBBS students

  • 1st Renewal: Submission of 1st MBBS mark sheet

  • 2nd Renewal: Submission of 2nd Prof MBBS mark sheet

  • 3rd and Final Renewal: 3rd Prof Part 1 MBBS mark sheet
