The North Bengal University is also commonly referred to as NBU. By the legislature of West Bengal, it was introduced under an act of 1962. North Bengal University consists of 2 campuses located at Danguajhar in Jalpaiguri and the other at Raja Rammohunpur around Siliguri.
It is a quite popular university in Bengal among students. Recently it has offered doctorate and PG programs in six north Bengal districts. It accepts CMAT, and during MBA admissions, it manages entrance exams as well for many disciplines.

In PG programs, 60% of seats are reserved by the university for candidates and students who belong to NBU. And for other university students, NBU has reserved the remaining 40% seats, that can be availed by other university candidates.
